2020 Vision

About the Project:

I was inspired by King Alfred of England (reigned 871-899) who first decided to document through art and manuscripts his reign in real time and to preserve the history of events that shaped his wish to unify England aginst the Vikings.

The Vision 2020 Series was created out of my love for art and history and the political, economic and social events that were occuring the first months of the year. At first, I decided to do a painting of President Donald Trump after the long Mueller Investigation came to an end and they found no evidence of collusion with Russia. When Congress decided to Impeach the President for the phone call with the Ukranian President for Quid Pro Quo I decided to do a triptych, a series  of three paintings depicting the "Accusations," "Impeachment Trial," and the "Outcome."

After President Trump's acquittal at the end of February 2020, I finished the three initial paintings. On March 13, 2020 President Trump announced a State of Emergency regarding the COVID-19 virus and America was issued orders to stay at home for 15 days to stop the spread. It was at this time I decided to continue painting in real time during the lock down. What transpired  was ayear long journey of documenting events as they unfolded as the lockdowns continued. What developed is this series is 25 original oil paintings, one every 2 weeks for the entire year and beyond.
